YOU finish CA approved Drivers Education

WE send you Certificate of Completion in the mail.

YOU must be at least 15 ½ years old & enroll in a Driving School for 6-hour behind the wheel training.

DRIVING SCHOOL provides you with an Enrollment Certificate
Proof of enrollment in driver training: your local driving school can provide you with a copy of DMV form OL 392. (Your first driver training lesson cannot begin until after you obtain your learners permit)

YOU fill out the DMV application form (DL 44)
Obtain
your parents' or guardians' signatures on the application form.
Take both certificates (OL237 & OL392) to a DMV and pass the written exam.
Present an acceptable birth date/legal presence document.
DMV issues you a Learners Permit

DL 44 application is not available online. You have to get it at a DMV.

DRIVING SCHOOL issues a completion certificate

If YOU are at least 16 years old and had your permit for at least 6 months, Congratulations! You are now ready for the DMV drive test.

YOU pass the drive test and DMV will issue a CA Drivers License. Please drive safely.
